Joan Orme

Joan Orme is Emeritus Professor of Social Work at the University of Glasgow, UK where she was founding Head of the Glasgow School of Social Work (GSSW) which is now based at Strathclyde University. She has over 20 years experience of teaching on social work courses, and has had leading roles in developments in social work education. She has also contributed to the development of UK social work research capacity by being involved in: the production of the JUC SWEC Research Strategy; the steering group for the Research and Development Strategy for Social Services in Scotland and the ESRC Researcher Development Initiative for Social Work. Her interest in the contribution of feminist theory to social work covers policy, practice and research methods and she has published extensively in the areas of social work practice, theory, education and research.
