Paul McDonald is Professor of Cinema and Media Industries at the University of Nottingham, UK. Prior to his academic career, he trained as a professional actor at RADA and went on to work in animated film production. He is a founding member of the Editorial Collective for Media Industries, the online journal of media industries research, and founder and co-chair of the Media Industries Scholarly Interest Group of the Society for Cinema and Media Studies. Paul is co-editor of the BFI International Screen Industries series. Among other areas, his research is focussed on film and television piracy, digital distribution of film and television and the commercial and legal dynamics of Hollywood.
