Chapter by chapter questions

The questions that follow, arranged by chapter, are conceived as being helpful to readers who want to cement their understanding of each chapter as they finish reading it. Each question is followed by a reference to the pages with the most relevant material for answering it. If you can answer the questions you have understood the major points raised in each chapter.

These questions can also be used as a basis for designing examination questions, either essay questions (by adding an instruction such as 'explain', or 'provide examples') or short-answer questions (by leaving them as they stand). The book does not lend itself to multiple-choice question format because of the nuanced nature of much of what it has to say.
