He trained as a clinical psychologist and is a past Chair of the British Psychological Society's Psychotherapy Section. He is the co-editor of Personal Construct Theory and Practice and the author of Understanding People (Palgrave 2004) and, with Vivien Burr, Invitation to Personal Construct Psychology (Whurr 2004).
